Working at the partner level gave him a more hands-on relationship with the industry and he learned to use his knowledge and background to fine-tune products to meet the specific needs of customers. During this phase of his work he developed patents for several products that are still used in the industry today. To the extent possible he wanted to focus on products that would not harm the environment and that would reduce customer’s need to meet EPA standards in handling them. He believed that ultimately the ability to reduce costs by reducing hazardous waste constrictions would serve the interest of both sides of any argument.
