Bill WardBill Ward – SVP Commercial Activity – Superior Pipeline Company

Bill Ward, Senior Vice President of Commercial Activity, joined Superior Pipeline Company, LLC in February 2008. Prior to joining Superior, he completed a ten-year career with Devon Gas Services, formerly Mitchell Gas Services, in the positions of Director of Business Development Central Region and Manager of Gas Marketing for the Rocky Mountain, Gulf Coast and West Texas Regions. From 1993 to 1998, Mr. Ward was Manager of Intrastate Gathering and Storage for Burlington Resources. Mr. Ward started his career in the gas industry in 1985 with Rockland Pipeline Company in the capacity of Director of Gas Supply and Business Development and Vice President of CanRock Pipeline Company. Mr. Ward serves as an executive board member and officer in the Gas Processors Association (GPA) and a board member of the Texas Intrastate Pipeline Association (TIPA). Mr. Ward holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University and further studies in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Houston.


Bruce BullockBruce Bullock – Director of the Maguire Energy Institute – SMU

Bruce Bullock is director of the Maguire Energy Institute in SMU’s Cox School of Business. The Institute fosters the study of management, marketing and policy issues related to the energy industry. Bullock frequently provides expertise on oil, gas and other energy industries. He and the Institute are playing a key role in Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s newly formed Gulf Project initiative, and he has been frequently quoted on issues related to the Gulf oil spill.

Christopher Guith is senior vice president for policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy (Energy Institute). He is responsible for developing the Institute’s policies and initiatives as they apply to the legislative, executive, and regulatory branches of the federal and state governments. Specifically, Guith leads the development of the Energy Institute’s policies and messaging relating to oil and natural gas and nuclear energy. He led the Chamber’s Shale Works for US campaign, which analyzed and promoted the widespread benefits of shale energy development in America.


Carol Van Zandt JonesCarol Van Zandt Jones – Founder & CEO – VZ Environmental

Carol Van Zandt Jones was challenged by a customer to find a simple method to contain liquid spills in the oil and gas industry. Carol partnered with equipment supplier Mark Matson to design a drive-over foam bermed containment membrane to capture and dispose of drips and spills on oil and gas sites. The containment mat, patented as VMatz™, not only met the customer’s needs, it became the first unique product supplied by VZ Environmental. Jones started the business out of her home with two employees and a goal to help oil and gas operators minimize their impact on the environment.


Rep. Chris Paddie

Representative Chris Paddie – District 9 – Texas House of Representatives

Chris Paddie is the representative of Texas’ House District 9. Paddie is serving as the vice chair of the Energy Resources Committee. He also sits on the House Administration and Transportation committee as well as the Subcommittee on Long-term Infrastructure Planning. Paddie was previously the mayor of Marshall, Texas. As Marshall mayor and during his years on the City Commission, taxes were not raised on Marshall residents. He works as the general manager of KMHT Radio where he hosts a daily talk show. Paddie is a graduate of Carthage High School and Texas A&M University. He and his wife Brooke have two sons, Christopher and Noah. Paddie is former Chairman of the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce and former President of the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Pines.

Dr. Richard Haut, PhD

Dr. Richard Haut, PhD – Program Director, Energy Production – Houston Advanced Research Center

Dr. Richard Haut is currently a Senior Research Scientist at the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) where he serves as the program manager for energy and the environment projects. A major effort is serving as Principal Investigator (P.I.) for the Environmentally Friendly Drilling Program in partnership with Texas A&M University, Sam Houston State University, other universities, industry and environmental organizations with the objective of integrating advanced technologies into systems that significantly reduce the environmental footprint of petroleum drilling and production. The effort was recognized by the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, receiving their Chairman’s Environmental Partnership award in 2009. In addition, Dr. Haut is the P.I. of the Coastal Impacts Technology Program (CITP) aimed at addressing environmental issues associated with energy production along the Texas gulf coast.

John TinteraJohn Tintera – President – Texas Water Recycling Association

Mr. John James Tintera is a regulatory expert in all facets of upstream oil and gas exploration, production, and transportation, including conventional and unconventional reservoirs. As the retired Executive Director and 22 year veteran of the premier oilfield regulator in the nation (the Railroad Commission of Texas) he has overseen the entire regulatory process, from drilling permits to compliance inspections, oil spill response, pollution remediation, and pipeline transportation. In addition, he has been directly responsible for the state funded cleanup of over 3000 pollution sites of virtually every type of contaminant possible in the oil field. Mr. Tintera has both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Geology with over 30 years of combined technical and managerial experience, 11 years as an industry petroleum geologist and 22 years with the state regulator. He currently serves as a an energy lobbyist and consultant under the name “Tintera Energy” and is also the President of the “Texas Water Recycling Association”.

Jennifer Harvey-Larivey is a successful business owner and mother in Houston, Texas. She has a passion for helping others through motivation and empowerment. She is the owner of 4 X-STREAM MEDIA, Inc. Through 4 X-STREAM MEDIA, Inc., she can help small to large businesses with any PR/Marketing needs to develop ads, websites, press releases, graphic design, commercials, etc. She has also developed a way to help businesses who want to connect with the oil and gas industry as services through several platforms. Mark StanleyMark Stanley – President & CEO – Themark Corporation

Mark E. Stanley has worked in the oil industry as a hydraulic fracturing expert for 37 years. He started with Arco right out of college where he studied Chemical Engineering. He went back to college to get his MBA in 1987 and went to work as a partner with Clear Water in 1989. Working at the partner level gave him a more hands-on relationship with the industry and he learned to use his knowledge and background to fine-tune products to meet the specific needs of customers. During this phase of his work he developed patents for several products that are still used in the industry today. To the extent possible he wanted to focus on products that would not harm the environment and that would reduce customer’s need to meet EPA standards in handling them. He believed that ultimately the ability to reduce costs by reducing hazardous waste constrictions would serve the interest of both sides of any argument.

State Representative Gene Wu proudly serves the people of District 137 in the Texas House. Prior to being elected in 2012, he served as a prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, where he sought justice for thousands of crime victims. Robert currently manages and directs Wood Mackenzie’s Global Unconventional Oil and Gas research, as well as the company’s internal Unconventional Knowledge Network.

Thomas Miller is a multi-faceted writer, broadcaster and oil company marketing executive, whose main role is as VP Communications for breitling energy. The Dallas-based writer produces content for several public and private company websites and blogs, and in addition to Oilprice.com is a regular contributor to townhall.com. Miller produced and co-hosted the nation’s only daily radio program dedicated exclusively to energy and oil and gas. Miller earned a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism, and put it to good use, anchoring the 6 and 10 pm news in his college town for the local ABC affiliate, while finishing his senior year of school. He has since had a prolific career in broadcasting, journalism and various levels of business management and marketing.
